Ingredients:
- 7 c green cabbage, shredded
- 2 c purple cabbage, shredded
- ½ c red onion, diced (optional)
- 1 c mayonnaise
- ¼ c white sugar (I use organic unbleached)
- 2 Tbs apple cider vinegar
- 2 Tbs buttermilk powder (optional)
- 2 tsp celery seed
- 1 tsp pepper
- ½ tsp salt
Directions:
- Slice the cabbages thin. I use the slicer blade of my food processer and that works well. Set the sliced cabbage aside in a large bowl.
- Add the diced red onion to the cabbage.
- In in medium sized mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sugar, cider vinegar, buttermilk powder, celery seed, pepper, and salt. Taste and adjust flavors if desired.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the cabbages and gently fold until the cabbage is fully coated.
- Serve with your favorite BBQ or even on a burger! Enjoy!
Creative Considerations:
Try the following variations:
- Use a pre-made package of coleslaw mix
- Add lemon juice for more tang
- Add mustard for more tang
- Add shredded carrot
- Substitute broccoli, cauliflower florets, and bell pepper
- Make your own flavorful combinations!
